Ban Huai Sua Tao is a remote village in the north-west of Mae Hong Son Province, home to Kayan and Kayaw ethnic sub-groups of the Karenni people (Red Karen).
The ticketed attraction area is quite touristy, but the people who work there are welcoming and engaging characters. Amongst the souvenirs, you can see some authentic patterns in the clothing for sale.
If you take a peek behind the souvenir shops you can see the wood and bamboo construction of traditional houses. Out side of the ticketed area, the wider village show the modern reality of how the local people live.
