Mae Yen Temple (Wat Phra That Mae Yen)

Wat Phra That Mae Yen (also known as Chedi Phra That Mae Yen) is a temple west of Pai. Best known for a large white Buddha statue visible to the whole valley, this is a popular place to watch the sunset.

Walking up the many steps to the White Buddha is great aerobic exercise, and a time-honored part of the pilgrimage to see the views!

There is a sign at the bottom that says the area is closed from 6pm daily. Don’t worry that you will miss sunset if it is slightly later than this, just be quiet and respectful and leave once nature’s show is complete.
