The classic way to explore the whole province of Mae Hong Son is via the Mae Hong Son Loop. The ‘Loop’ refers to the circular route taken which is an optimal way to cover a lot of sights and activities.

Mae Hong Son Loop [5D4N Private Tour]

Day 1 – Chiang Mai to Doi Inthanon

  • 8:30am pickup from Chiang Mai hotel
  • Doi Inthanon National Park (park entry fee included)
    • Go to the mountain summit – the highest point in Thailand (free)
    • Visit the Cloud Forest boardwalk / Ang Ka Trail near the summit. (free)
    • Visit royal pagodas and gardens (entry included)
    • Set menu lunch (included)
    • Trekking with local Karen guide along Pha Dok Siew nature trail to Mae Klang Luang, 2 hours easy walk (mostly downhill) through forest and past waterfalls and Karen farmland (local guide fee included).
    • Finish trek at the Karen village where you can sample locally grown and freshly roasted arabica coffee. (free)
  • Check in to accommodation at Mae Klang Luang Hill resort– optional walk around village

Day 2 – Doi Inthanon to Mae Hong Son City

  • Depart Mae Klang Luang 8:30am
  • Drive through Mae Hong Son province and stop for lunch (included)
  • Huay Pu Keng Long Neck (entry & ferry tickets included, additional cost for optional boat ride from Ban Huai Duea)
  • Overnight stay in Mae Hong Son City

Day 3 – Mae Hong Son City to Ban Rak Thai

Day 1 – Chiang Mai to Doi Inthanon

The itinerary for the first day has all the inclusions of our Doi Inthanon Day Tour, with the main differences being:

  1. Instead of returning to Chiang Mai, you get to stay overnight in the Karen village of Mae Klang Luang.
  2. Since you do not have return travel, you can choose to relax at your accommodation or explore more of the village.
