One-way Travel From Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai

This tour is usually day return to Chiang Mai, but you can request it one-way if that fits you overall itinerary. This is a smart way to travel between cities and do some sightseeing at the same time.

For group tours there are restrictions on luggage and drop-off location:

  • 1 piece of carry-on luggage is included in the price of the group tour (7kg max, must fit under your seat). Any luggage that must go in the back incurs a charge of ฿500
  • The drop-off point for the group tour is Chiang Rai Airport.

For private tours we can take more luggage, and are happy to drop you directly at your hotel provided it is within city limits.

Day Tours to Chiang Rai (from Chiang Mai)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the group tour available every day?

Yes, we have multiple tour groups every day. The way the group tours work is that we pool our guides/vehicles with several other operators, this way we can keep adding groups to meet demand.

What is the maximum group size for group tours?

We use Toyota Commuter vans configured with 12 passenger seats (in addition to guide and driver up front). You should assume each group is full or near-full, as we finalize the number of tour groups only days before the tour date.

What is a Long Neck ‘Demonstration’ Village?

The long neck people in Thailand generally live in the western part of Mae Hong Son province, along the border with Myanmar (e.g. Huay Pu Keng village).

In other places (mostly Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai) there are demonstration villages. These are temporary accommodations set up purely to support tourism.

These demonstration villages are not authentic, but the people certainly are. The long neck ladies are happy to pose with you for photos in their neck rings and traditional clothing.
