Royal Pagodas

These twin Pagodas (their official names are Pra Mahatat Noppamethanedon and Pra Mahatat Nopphonphusiri) honor the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit, and are surrounded by spectacular gardens.

There is a large parking lot near the main road. To manage congestion, you need to take shuttle transport provided to the base of the pagodas. The pagodas are separately ticketed from the national park fees, and this additional expense includes the shuttle transport.

There are 2 long flights of stairs leading up to each pagoda for closer views, and to see the various gardens. Escalators also provide an easy ride up, but the steps are the only option to return to the base level.

While the summit does not have good views (due to constant mist and dense forest), at the pagodas you get a view through the next valley towards Mae Hong Son province.
