Wat Chedi Luang is a large compound with several temples, and a buddhist school. Construction of the central chedi began in the 14th century C.E. On completion in the 15th century, it was the tallest structure in the Lanna kingdom.
The Emerald Buddha was displayed here until an earthquake caused significant damage in 1545.
Long skirts or trousers are required at the temples. Shoulders must also be covered.
