Kruba Srivichai Monument

At the foot of Doi Suthep mountain is a monument to Kruba Srivichai – quite possibly the most famous monk of Northern Thailand. Known for inspiring many volunteer projects, his leadership in the construstion of the road up to Doi Suthep Temple is celebrated.

Monks emerging from the Somdet Phraphutthachinnawong school (attached to the nearby temple Wat Si Soda) collect alms each morning. The best time to see this is at 7am, and vendors nearby sell offering sets so that you make merit appropriately.
