Itinerary Detail

Day 1 – Araksa Tea & Thaton

To keep on schedule for Araksa Tea, we need to leave your Chiang Mai hotel at 8:15am.

Araksa Tea Garden Chiang Mai

At Araksa Tea Garden, take the tea-picking tour. Learn how to pick, grade and process tea leaves from the experts.

Tea & Refreshments served.

Take a break for lunch. A set-menu or buffet meal is included in the tour package. Let your guide know if you would prefer to use the lunch budget towards an a-la-carte restaurant of your choosing.

Continuing north, there are various places you can stop to break up the journey, we recommend a stop at Huai Lek Royal project – an agricultural research station with a produce market.

At the northern tip of Chiang Mai province you reach the sleepy town of Thaton. There is a good viewpoint at a temple above the river, and a number of good accommodation options here.

Day 2 – Mae Salong, Black House & White Temple

Check out from your Thaton accommodation after a relaxed breakfast. The road now turns up into the mountains and you will start to see Akha villages and farmlands.

Mae Salong Chiang Rai

Your destination for the morning is Mae Salong, one of several Yunnanese enclave villages in the far North of Thailand.

Visit the Martyr’s Memorial Hall: commemoration of fallen KMT soldiers and a visual history of regional development during peace time.

Mae Salong Chiang Rai- Market

In the main street of Santikhiri there is a market of fresh local produce, and small shops selling dried fruit from China, tea, rice and tea pots.

101 Tea Plantation Mae Salong

As you leave Mae Salong, you will stop at 101 Tea Plantation for complimentary tea tasting. This is a good place to buy tea if you are interested.

Across the road you can walk a little way into the tea field and take some photos. The tea fields here are beautifully contoured to the hillside.

Take a break for lunch. A set-menu or buffet meal is included in the tour package. Let your guide know if you would prefer to use the lunch budget towards an a-la-carte restaurant of your choosing.

In the afternoon you have time to visit two attractions as you pass by Chiang Rai city, Choose two from the following list:

Akha View Restaurant, Doi Chang

In the afternoon, drive up into the mountain region of Doi Chang.

You will stay the night in a simple but clean bungalow.Try some local Akha food for dinner.

Day 3 – Doi Chang Coffee Tour

In the morning, wake up to the fresh mountain air and visit Temple Park with a local guide. You will also tour a macadamia processing plant and a coffee plantation / factory.

Flying Restaurant, Doi Chang

Have lunch in Doi Chang, then continue back to Chiang Mai.

Wat Saeng Kaew Phothiyan

On the way back to Chiang Mai, you will have time to stop at Wat Saeng Kaew Phothiyan.
